SETOFF Program Completion

The ERASMUS+ Program “SETOFF – Smart Education and Training PrOgram For central and local government servants: Embrace vulnerability as our greatest strength and innovative tools”, is being completed in February 2025 after three (3) years of great accomplishments. The Program aimed at offering free asynchronous distance training, in the management of natural disasters and emergency crises. A special platform was built in 5 languages and a Certificate of Professional Training is provided, upon successful attendance & completion of the training courses.

The Program, under the scientific coordination of the Democritus University of Thrace / Department of Chemistry and Asst. Prof. Mr. Michalis Chalaris, was jointly implemented by the GEP Group through its subsidiary EUROCORE Consulting Sprl, and seven (7) public and private entities from Greece, Belgium, Spain and North Macedonia.

The SETOFF Program is a multidimensional approach to strengthening resilience to Natural Disasters and Crises and their Management in terms of Safety and Health. Implementation focused at local, regional, national and international levels, aiming to improve the preparedness and effectiveness of rescuers and first responders, while strengthening cooperation and the dissemination of best practices. Resilience is particularly highlighted, concerning not only the ability to adapt and resist, but also the active prevention, organized response and rapid recovery after critical events.

At the Local and Regional Levels, the Program focuses on empowering the personnel responsible for rescue and help. It helps to validate their knowledge and developing skills that enhance decision-making in complex incidents under crisis conditions, while strengthening the ability to support victims, contributing to social cohesion and recovery after disasters. The pilot projects carried out in the partner countries highlighted the local and regional dimension of the project, creating networks that enhance preparation and resilience to regional crises.

At the National and International Levels, SETOFF contributes to the development of an innovative educational framework that integrates personalized e-learning, accessible via the Internet in five (5) languages, and the certification of skills through the ECVET system, thus enhancing the professional mobility of participants and the recognition of their qualifications at European level.

The long-term sustainability of the Program depends on its future integration into national educational structures and international organizations, and its operation as a model of cooperation and dissemination of multilingual best practices. The international network of volunteers that supports the project enhances its sustainability, creating collaborative networks for joint crisis response.

SETOFF Program is an excellent opportunity to acquire and improve knowledge and skills in Occupational Health & Safety and is recommended to those who wish to participate, notwithstanding the time and place.
